Jeffrey H. Ochrach                       

   Jeffrey H. Ochrach began his practice of law as an attorney with Long & Levit, an 85 lawyer firm in San Francisco.  At Long & Levit, he was a litigator practicing primarily in the areas of business law, real estate law and lawyer  malpractice law.  In 1993, Mr. Ochrach formed the Law Offices of Jeffrey H. Ochrach in Placer County.  He is listed in The National Directory of Who's Who In Executives and Professionals and has been a legal commentator appearing on Fox40 Television News.  Mr. Ochrach has also lectured on trial techniques and strategies at continuing education courses for lawyers, and he has served several times as an expert witness on standard of care and ethics issues.

     Mr. Ochrach has extensive trial experience and an unparalleled record of victories.  He has tried 31 cases and won 29, or 93.5%.  Some recent examples include:

●    $1.44 million jury verdict for breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing (including $400,000 for emotional distress)

●    $3.1 million jury verdict for business fraud (including $2.7 million in punitive damages) against major Los Angeles-based financial institution

●    $1.5 million jury verdict for breach of a sale of business contract

●    $2.8 million jury verdict for attorney malpractice against an attorney and California State Assemblyman

●    $21 million settlement of breach of a lease and option to sell a television station against a National television network.

●    $4 million settlement of breach of franchise agreement against an international oil company

●    Defense jury verdict in a million dollar business tort action

●    $850,000 award against MCI Corporation for breach of contract

 Education

Mr. Ochrach received his Bachelor's of Science Degree in business administration and accounting from California State University at Long Beach.  Before entering law school, he was an auditor for the big-eight accounting firm of Ernst & Whinney (now known as Ernst & Young).  In 1987, Mr. Ochrach earned his Juris Doctor Degree (with distinction) from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he graduated in approximately the top 10% of his class.  While in law school, Mr. Ochrach was a published writer on the Pacific Law Journal, authoring the law review article In re Cecchini: Willful and Malicious Injury--Nondischargeability in Bankruptcy, 17 Pacific Law Journal 1511 (1986). He was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for corporate reorganizations and a member of the Traynor Honor Society.

Professional

    Mr. Ochrach is admitted to practice in all of the State and Federal courts of California.  He is a member of the Placer County and Sacramento County Bar Associations, as well as the American Bar Association.  Mr. Ochrach also serves as a Judge Pro Tem in the Placer County Superior Court and an Arbitrator for the Sacramento County Superior Court.

Community Service

     Mr.  Ochrach is the President of the Board of Directors of Sierra Family Services, a non-profit mental health and drug rehabilitation agency.  He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Roseville Community Hospital Foundation.  He also served as a Director of the Eureka Schools Foundation.  Finally, Mr. Ochrach is a member and former Director of the Rotary Club of Roseville Sunrise; he is a six-time recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship by Rotary International.

     

     Teresa L. Zuber

         Of Counsel 

    Teresa L. Zuber has practiced law since 1991, when she began her career representing indigent people in the Bronx, New York in matters dealing with housing, welfare, social security benefits and funeral expenses.  She then returned to California where she joined the firm of Hansen, Boyd, Culhane & Watson, primarily representing lawyers in attorney malpractice matters.  Subsequently, she joined Downey, Brand, Seymour & Rowher [now Downey Brand], where she litigated in the areas of constitutional, commercial, environmental and real estate law.  Since then, she has practiced independently, handling such matters as civil rights, business litigation, personal injury, and land use development. 

    Ms. Zuber has substantial successful experience in appellate matters, and was the attorney of record in several published state and federal appellate opinions.  In connection with one high-profile Ninth Circuit case dealing with prisoner’s reproductive rights, Ms. Zuber provided numerous interviews and commentary on various media outlets, including Court TV, The Fox Report, MSNBC Morning News Show, and radio programs across the country and internationally, and in print media, including The Los Angeles Times and The Sacramento Bee. 

Education 

    Ms. Zuber received a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from the University of California, Berkeley.  She studied French and postgraduate physics in France at the Sorbonne and the University of Paris.  She subsequently performed research in magnetic resonance imaging at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she co-authored various publications, including a glossary for a comprehensive text on magnetic resonance imaging.  She attended Hofstra University School of Law, where she graduated with distinction and was on the Hofstra Law Review.

    Ms. Zuber is licensed to practice law in the States of California and New York, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Central Districts of California, the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. 

Community Service 

    Ms. Zuber is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance Française de Sacramento.  She has also served as a district representative for the Sacramento Unified School District’s English Learner Advisory Committee, and has vice-chaired the English Learner Advisory Committee for Sutterville Elementary School. 

Personal

    Ms. Zuber and her husband live in Sacramento, California and have one child.  She speaks French and Spanish.
